Superintendent's Proposal to Board

Superintendent Matheney recommends a new proposal that addresses the fields, builds a new track, adds permanent restrooms, and installs new lighting. The new concept proposes two synthetic fields and one natural grass field, with a 40% reduction in the use of synthetic turf and 28% reduction in cost of the project.
Key notes:
2 synthetic turf fields (stadium field and one for use by field hockey, other sports, Marching Band)
1 refurbished natural grass field
Cost savings with no visiting team room/bathroom and no changes to concession building
Add additional lighting to extend use of synthetic turf practice field
Create permanent restrooms (with cost savings from placement adjacent to concessions)
The use of IRONTURF and BrockFILL
Preliminary cost estimate: $8.9 million($12.3 million in previous plan)

Athletic Complex Q&A
On October 8, Superintendent Tim Matheney discussed the proposed athletic complex project with two representatives (Patrick Maguire, Managing Principal, and Ben Gleason, Senior Associate) from the landscape architecture and civil engineering firm Activitas. The firm provides project design and engineering for athletic complexes that feature both grass fields and synthetic turf surfaces.
