Today on Take Action Day, thousands of participants from local businesses and community partners came together to volunteer. United Way, a non-profit whose work mobilizes communities around the world to close gaps and open opportunities so everyone can thrive, leads the effort to organize this day of volunteering.
In Southern Maine, volunteers from United Way, BarryDunn, and Dead River Company trimmed hedges, raked leaves, and weeded the gardens at Dora L. Small Elementary School.
"United Way is really good at gathering different people in the community to come together and volunteer," shares United Way's Director of HR, Sacre Bahati. "It's really cool to see the footprint that everyone is getting together and leaving."
