
Our School Nutrition staff took a trip to Snell Family Farm! They harvested fruits and vegetables from the farm and used the produce to create a stew. 🥬🍅 We love learning new recipes and incorporating locally sourced ingredients into meals for students!

The South Portland Adult Track and Field team won their 14th consecutive state championship! 🏆 🏃 On July 20, over 65 athletes – comprised of city and school staff and their families – represented South Portland at our home track at Martin Memorial Field. Together they defended their championship against a dozen other Maine-based teams, who assembled almost 200 athletes from ages 19 to 88.
SPMS teacher and long time team member Kari Voleker was presented with Maine Corporate Track Association’s Peter Cooley award for outstanding contributions to her team.
The South Portland Track and Field team welcomes city and school employees of any age or skill level to join the team. Additionally, retirees, adult children, parents, and cohabitating partners can participate in this free wellness activity. Rising 6th-12th grade students explored the beach yesterday to learn more about local wildlife, ecosystems, habitats, food chains, weather, and climate as part of their summer program.

South Portland's Adult Education spent the afternoon exploring the landscape and light houses at Fort Williams Park!






The South Portland Middle School Young Authors Camp was inspired by the outdoors last week! Students filled the sidewalks with messages at the Eastern Promenade and read their writings aloud at Mill Creek Park.




Summer hours are in effect at the District Office, which means that the District Office is closed on Fridays for this month: July 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.
Operating hours for District Office hours are:
Monday–Thursday 7:30am - 4pm
Regular hours will resume in August.


Every Thursday from 10-11 a.m. this summer, The Locker Project will have free, fresh produce available at Skillin Elementary for our community to enjoy!

Congratulations to the South Portland High School Class of 2024, who celebrated graduation on Sunday, June 9 with friends and family!


We are excited to announce Hermenegildo Paulo as South Portland Schools' Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion!


The South Portland High School Boys track team won the State Championship this past Saturday, June 1. Arnaud Sioho won four events and set state records in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump, leading the Red Riots to their first state Class A outdoor track and field team championship in 22 years.


Congratulations to the School Nutrition program for winning the Gulf of Maine Research Institute Tastemakers Award for innovative food offerings. Students experienced a variety of multiculturally themed seafood offerings. The seafood was responsibly harvested buy Maine fishermen and sea farmers, and prepared with the help of local chefs and community members.
