Facilities

The Facilities department is made up of approximately forty custodians, maintenance staff, an office manager and Director. Through the efforts of these dedicated staff, and a variety of contractors, we maintain the schools, grounds and all of the assets within them. The Facilities Department is also responsible for the security and safety of our schools.

Every school day buildings are cleaned and sanitized. The security system helps keep buildings safe both while children are in school and when they are unoccupied. Community organizations or businesses who wish to use our facilities should consult our Facilities Use page.

The South Portland Schools Facilities Department uses a preventative maintenance program to help ensure our equipment is working correctly. We work with the District Safety Committee to provide for the safe storage and disposal of hazardous and e-waste materials. Our goal is to provide an environment that is healthy, safe, and comfortable for all.
