CLUB CANCELATIONS FOR 12/12: 5/6 Dungeons & Dragons is canceled today.
South Portland Middle School earned the 2023 Honor Award for Integration of Sustainable Features from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Maine. The award was presented to the school’s design team, WBRC, at ACEC of Maine’s 2023 Fall Forum on November 15 at the University of Maine in Orono, ME.
Some of the new school’s sustainable design features include a geothermal system, photovoltaics, and rainwater harvesting for the irrigation system. State funding allowed the city of South Portland to build a state-of-the-art consolidated middle school, while additional local funding made it possible to include many sustainable features in the project.

Family/Teacher Conferences continue on Wednesday, 11/15. 7th and 8th grade conferences are virtual this night, and 5th and 6th grade conferences are in person at SPMS. You may park in the bus loop after 3:30 pm!
South Portland Schools will operate with a one-hour delayed start on Monday, October 30.

South Portland Schools will be closed today, Friday, October 27, because of the ongoing situation in the Lewiston area.
All South Portland Schools will be closed today, Thursday October 26th, due to the ongoing search for the suspect in the shootings in Lewiston last night.
As the tragic shootings in Lewiston is ongoing situation, we encourage all families to follow the advice of law enforcement to stay safe at home until the perpetrator is apprehended.
We will closely monitor developments in the situation and will respond accordingly. We are in touch with the South Portland Police Department and will make a decision about the school day tomorrow, October 26th, in light of those developments.
South Portland High School (and ONLY SPHS) will have an early release today, Wednesday October 25th, because of significant plumbing issues.
Picture Retake Day: If you do not like your child’s school photo and want it redone, or if your child was absent and didn’t get a picture taken, photo retake day will be on 10/27. If you want a different (aka better) photo, have your child bring their original picture packets on retake day. You do not have to pay again.
