Students and parents are discouraged from the routine presentation of gifts to employees. When a student feels a spontaneous desire to present a gift to a staff member, the gift is not to be elaborate or unduly expensive. The Board will consider as always welcome, and in most cases more appropriate than gifts, the writing of letters to staff members expressing gratitude or appreciation.
Employees may not accept any gift or favor that might impair or appear to influence professional decisions or actions. Acceptance of token gifts and simple remembrances expressive of affection, appreciation or gratitude will not be regarded as violations of this policy.
This policy will not be interpreted as intending to discourage student or parental acts of generosity in unusual situations.
